East London Waste Authority
East London Waste Authority

The East London Waste Authority (ELWA) has created a new post to lead on the
development of a joint resources and waste strategy for East London and to give
strategic and operational assistance to the Managing Director in a number of other
areas, deputising when required.

ELWA has a small team of officers and works in close partnership with its constituent
councils, so we are looking for someone with substantial knowledge and experience of
wastes management, someone with the vision to see how waste services can develop
in the future, and above all someone who is a strong team-player with a track record
of delivering change in an inter-connected environment.

The focus of the new strategy will be on waste prevention and on managing what is
currently regarded as ‘waste’ as the future’s ‘secondary resources’ needed by
manufacturers in the UK and abroad; whilst recognising the Authority’s duty to
arrange the disposal of all the constituent councils’ residual waste.

ELWA arranges the employment of its staff through LB Barking & Dagenham. The
post is currently based in Romford, but the office may relocate to another part of East

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview on either the morning of 24
September or afternoon of 26 September 2018.

In order to apply please visit the LB Barking & Dagenham website.
