Did you see Hugh’s War on Waste a few weeks ago? The BBC One documentary follows Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall on his mission to find out why we waste so much.
Some filming took place at a Restart Party in Stroud and saw various items being fixed instead of going to waste.
Well more Restart Parties have been organised in East London and you are invited!
Have you got a broken electronic item or small appliance that could be fixed instead of being thrown away? Why not pop along to a Restart Party in Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge and our volunteer repairers will see if they can help you fix it. We can help you with things like slow or damaged laptops, kettles, headphones, printers, toasters, radios and many other small and portable devices. Just bring your misbehaving item and your enthusiasm to fix – no previous experience is necessary! Don’t forget your charger or power supply and please back up your data before the event. It’s first come, first served so come early to avoid disappointment.
The events are brought to you by The Restart Project, a London-based social enterprise encouraging and empowering people to use their electronics longer in order to reduce electronic waste.
Between May and July, various Restart Parties were held at Hornchurch Library, Stratford Library, Barking Learning Centre and Ilford Pop-Up Green Market. The volunteer fixers managed to repair 34 different devices such as laptops, cameras, shavers, electric blankets, even hedge trimmers, all now in working order and prevented from becoming waste.
