Who we are

The East London Waste Authority (ELWA) was established on 1 January 1986 as a Statutory Waste Disposal Authority (WDA), responsible for the disposal of waste collected by the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge.

Reuse and Recycling Centres

The Reuse and Recycling Centres (RRCs) at Chigwell Road, Frizlands Lane, Gerpins Lane and Jenkins Lane are open. Social distancing is in place which means fewer cars can be on the sites, so you may need to queue when you arrive.

If you are coming to an RRC, you should wear a face covering outside of your vehicle, keep a safe distance from staff and other visitors, and remember to thoroughly clean or sanitise your hands after your visit. We recommend you read the key information on  this page before you visit, and check the opening hours of each site here.
