Recycle for Your Community – at Home!

The Recycle for your Community project – delivered to your door (…or screens)

We hope you are all well and staying safe during this uncertain and pretty rubbish (pun intended) time.

If you were unaware, Recycle for your Community is a project ran by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with the four boroughs of the East London Waste Authority (Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge).

online resources

We deliver waste and recycling workshops and sessions to schools and community groups within these four boroughs, to educate residents on the importantance of reducing, reusing and recycling your rubbish. With the recently announced lockdown and school closures from the government in response to the outbreak of COVID-19, we are currently restricted to the physical sessions we can deliver.

However, in order to help support those of you still working in schools and those of you who are now having to learn the joys of home schooling, we wanted to adapt our sessions by creating digital versions and ensuring they are available online for you to use.

So, take a break from your traditional curriculum lessons with these fun resources!

Our first two resource packs are available to download:

These are tailored for EYFS and KS1 pupils, and children between the ages of 3 and 7.

»The Recycling Champion workshop helps your child learn about the journey of our rubbish and what we can recycle. Become a ‘Recycling Champion‘ and have a go at sorting the rubbish from the recycling.

»The Storytelling Workshop explores the problem with plastics in our oceans and how it endangers sea life. Read the eco-themed story by Georgina Stevens and feel empowered to make a difference.

Alongside our resource packs we will be posting many hints, tips, photos and videos on our social media channels to suggest and inspire ways of reducing and reusing your rubbish so make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook!

We are always keen to develop and improve our resources to make sure that they are suitable and of real value. Therefore we actively encourage you to send us your feedback and experience of how the tasks went. If we need to do something different then please let us know via email at recycleFYC@keepbritaintidy.org.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for taking the time to visit this web page to download and use our new at home resources even in these challenging times.
